We can offer an array of different workshops and sessions to help with working towards being a top class performer. To be able to flourish as a dancer in the modern world it is important to be able to explore and develop a number of skills which can all feed into and support one another. Sessions will focus on supporting performers to develop skills, build confidence and have fun in an exciting and creative environment.

Academy members who choose to focus on Dance can expect to explore a variety of styles of dance. It is important for dancers to be able to create both solo and ensemble pieces, so performers will be challenged to work with others as well as explore independent practice.

Dancers will be asked to choreograph their own pieces, as well as have the discipline required to learn choreography from our professionally trained dance tutors. Onstage presence and expression are key attributes to an exceptional dancer, and we will develop these skills through fun, exploratory workshops. We hope to be able to perform for public audiences, including Expressions at Northern Ballet and performances with York Dance Space, as we have previously done, and at new venues and events.

An exploration of multiple genres of dance, including: contemporary, ballet, tap, improvisation and musical theatre.
Technique workshops to refine movement and develop a repertoire of dance steps.
Strengthening classes with a focus on safe dance technique.
Expression sessions, where the focus will be on telling a story through your dance.
Developing your artist portfolio, including social media skills, content making, showreel creating and photography.

Performance Opportunities

We are passionate about making sure our performers are given real life opportunities to perform and showcase their musical creations. Currently we are developing links within the York area to showcase these performances. Amongst are already exciting performance spaces such as The Crescent and Theatre 41, we are looking at putting on performances at some of York's greatest venues such as The Fulford Arms. Performers will have the chance to showcase their creative output regularly and we love making performances as big and as fun as they can possibly be!
